Ironically, I believe that 99.9% of said psychic events are just coincidences or delusions. The moment you start believing that some things you do may have some sort of supernatural basis, such as something happening after you dreamt about it the previous day, then you have already opened a can of worms. For readers who are into psychic work, I understand that it is sometimes difficult to hear other people discredit your work when you feel like the experiences you go through are real, but you also need to make sure that you are not undergoing any mental health issues, which often happen very smoothly and could make you unaware or in denial.
I know this entire blog is about documenting attempts at psychic intervention, but I always operate under the basis that any successful outcome is just the product or mere coincidence. Also, I have strict reminders for myself that I think is beneficial to you or anyone who is considering this path:
- You are likely not special - there has never been any scientifically proven psychics, and likely, certain things are just you looking for coincidences to justify your beliefs.
- Hearing "God" or anything else may be a sign of mental illness, and one should consult a medical professional in such event. You might feel like you're "a special person that God chose as his messenger" of sorts, but think about the thousands, if not millions of people around the world who also went through such a thing and ended up being mentally unwell. I am not blaming you or discrediting you, but if you're really special, then go get a doctor's appointment first, and if the doctor's interventions don't do anything, then maybe you really are, but see a doc first.
- Don't obsess over the supernatural - the magical aspect may be fun, but keep it as a side hobby and life a normal life like anyone else
- If something "magical" happened, find the most rational explanation, see if it happens even without your intervention etc.
- Delusion can happen to anyone, so don't be ashamed to analyze your beliefs properly
- Document everything, and have a scientific process, or at least a method to your findings and experiments
- Step away - completely step away from "psychic" work for an entire month or so at a time. If you are too obsessed in that world, you will find patterns that shouldn't be proof of anything.
- Remember your failures - Say you performed some curse on someone and that person ended up just fine, you should remember that failure and document it properly. If you only remember the times "it worked", you will make yourself believe that some things are actually real and work all the time.
